January 6, 2009: Central Park Ice

Central Park Ice

Did you know that the lake in Central Park has a drainage pipe they used to use to lower the water level during the winter, so people could ice skate? That's no longer done (probably to protect the fish and turtles in the water), but the pipe is still there, and it's used during heavy rain to keep the lake from overflowing.

Nice reflection, though i think it's far more interesting without the 180 rotation.

Hi Jake.

I found your blog via stepahnie klein's greek tradgedy blog.

I have always wanted to visit new york, hopefully one day eh? Your photoblog makes good viewing.

I didn't know that about the pipe on central park lake...you learn something new everyday i guess.
